It is well known that power isolates and that people we used to work with, change their behavior and attitude when we become CEO.
Ivory tower syndrome and isolation are major risks.
The members of the management committees do not protect against those risks as they may also adopt an attitude that tends to embellish situations.
The challenge is therefore to listen and stay tuned with the people in the business to get their open feedback - negative ones are more than welcome - whether it is on a product, a change in the organization or to test innovative ideas.
Walking in the corridors, having talks at the coffee machine, joining working sessions to listen (without participating) are things that can be done to achieve that goal.
